COSTA BLANCA :
Sun, sea and sand are excellent reasons to visit the Costa Blanca, but it’s attractions don’t stop
there! You can explore magnificent Natural Parks, wild sierras and remote hill villages, or visit
historic towns with fascinating museums and a wealth of fabulous architecture. There are
soaring ochre peaks and hidden verdant valleys, almond and olives, cherries and grapes, figs
and oranges. Some stretches of coastline remain completely unspoilt, places where twisting
paths lead through aromatic shrubs and pines down to turquoise water. Wading birds in
shimmering salt flats and birds of prey hover on thermals high above deep canyons. Inland,
quietly prosperous towns pursue their traditional ways and villages celebrate their annual
fiestas. Traditional craftsmanship still flourishes - pottery and basket ware, textiles and
leatherwork. Every town and village has its own local delicacies and special recipes. THERE IS A
WHOLE WORLD WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED …………

ALTEA :Just 4 Km away,  sheltered by the steep hills of The Sierra Bernia Mountain lies the pretty
little town of Altea who tumbles down the slopes towards the sea. The blue- domed church of La
Virgen de la Consuelo sits at the top of the town and this building has become one of the most
remarkable milestones on the Costa Blanca. Altea still maintains the personality of a village,
quiet and peaceful with a strong fisherman’s tradition  The charm of the town and the quality of
the light, has always attracted those who have visited her, especially artists, painters, writers,
sculptors, singers etc who in the 60’s and 70’s made it a meeting point and a place of residence
for the bohemian world. Altea has an abundance of galleries and craft shops selling everything
from watercolours to pottery and hand-made jewellery. Tempting boutiques line the narrow
streets, while café tables, shaded by orange trees spill out onto every open space. White walls
are splashed with brilliant geraniums, plumbago and jasmine. You can  walk down from the old
town to Alteas beach area, where there is the usual cluster of restaurants, hotels and bars
ranged along a pleasant palm-lined esplanade, and good water sports facilities.

CALPE : Again just 4 Km away lies the town of Calpe. It has a stunning natural setting on a vast
bay dominated by the Penon  de Ifach. No photograph can capture the impact of this huge ,
craggy rock that rears up from the sea. The Penon de Ifach has become the symbol of the Costa
blanca and can be found in any tourist book or brochure. It remains isolated and untouched
thanks to it,s modern role as a natural park. If you climb to the 332m summit the views along the
coastline and to the inland sierras are quite simply breathtaking. The gentler lower slopes run to
the rocky inlets (hugely popular with divers!) and tiny bays which are brilliantly carpeted in Spring
with a profusion of over 300 species of wild flowers and plants including an orchid unique to the
Penon.  Bird life is prolific here. In Winter the rare Audouin’s gull is a frequent visitor and
flamingos inhabit the nearby salt flats. In Calpe town itself, you will find a tremendous variety of
shops, bars and restaurants. Calpes large sandy beaches and excellent water sports facilities
have made this town immensely popular.
